cow teeth and feathers.

So 2 weekends ago we went to North Battleford.  It was me and my three little boys cause Brian was away at work.  We went out to the farm where my dad works and got down and dirty, well the boys did anyway.  I took the quad with Alex and Anthany and Atley rode in the Gator with Grandpa and Grandma.  Grandpa filled up some buckets with pellets to feed the cows and the boys even tried feeding them out of their hand.  It didn't work but they got really close.  It reminded me of what Anthany said awhile ago, " when I get to close the cows just mooo in my face".  or something like that anyway.  I think all the adults there were very aware of all the cow pies laying around but the kids, not so much.  Atley was wearing sandles (cause he didn't listen when I told him to put shoes on) and I think he was the first of the three to step in one of those pies.  It squished right up onto his toes and the funniest part was he really didn't even care.
After we were finished with the cows we took a drive up the hill and checked out an old farm house.  The boys thought that was really cool.  We took the long way back to the farm and Grandpa (probably on purpose) took us past the "dinosaur bones" according to Atley.  It's the spot that the cow carcases get dumped and the cyotees clean them up.  Didn't take long for the boys to be under the fence and playing with the bones.  Some how a cow skull ended up in the back of the gator and ultimatly in the back of my van.  They had pulled as many teeth out of the skulls as they could and grandpa told them they could take a skull back to his place so they could get more out with plyers.  I am happy to say that the skull stayed in grandpas back yard but I have 3 piles of cows teeth kicking around the house.  Actually for the first 2 days those teeth didn't leave Atley's side.  They rode in his pocket on the way home, I discovered them in the bathtub with him when I went to wash his hair and were under his pillow at night.(I think my dad asked him if he knew what the tooth fairy would bring for cow teeth.)  He finally put them down on the second day when I discovered them in is pocket when he was getting raedy for school.  I told him that not everyone thought cow teeth were as cool as he did and he had to leave them at home.  He took a rock from his collection instead.
While we were at the farm one of the older boys took Anthany and Atley to the barn.  I haven't been there so I am not sure what all was in there but I do know there was some very large feathers from a very large bird that was road kill at one piont.  Man those feathers were the coolest thing ever!(next to the cow teeth of course)  The older 2 boys each had a feather when it was time to go and they were so cool that Grandpa had to make a special trip down to the barn to get Alex one.  Sooo... on the way home from the farm in my van with me I had 1 grandma, 1 grandpa, 3 boys, a cow skull and a bunch of feathers.

Grandpa let Anthany drive the Gator.  He was proud as punch, ya shoulda seen that smile.

Happy Mothers Day 2012

I really enjoyed reading that and have decided that I will ask him the same questions every year and enjoy seeing the changes.

I think my back yard has become the gathering place of the neighborhood kids.  Yesterday and today I had 9 or 10 kids playing on the tampoline and in the sprinkler.  The first day we set up the trampoline they all came over and I made up a game.  I put a huge tote full ball pit balls onto the trampoline and all the girls got on and all the boys stayed off.  The goal of the game was for the girls to get all the balls off the trampolie and the boys to get them all on.  when a group won we traded.  ALL the kids loved it!! and they were all asking to play it again today.  I totally don't mind having the other kids here, honestly I would rathher have them here with my kids where I know what they are doing then having my kids else where and not know what they are doing.  I think I will strive for my house to be THE house to come to as the grow.  Some where they can be safe and comfortable and have fun with their friends.

Have you ever?

Have you ever been scared to go check on the kids cause they are being so quiet that you are sure they are doing something they shouldn't?  Have you ever wished you could install a volume button on your children?  Have you ever given your child a bloody nose?(accidentally of course)  Have you ever fed your kids cereal for supper twice in one week?  Have you ever really looked at your kid and thought to yourself, holy cow he looks so grown up, how did he get to be 7 already?"  That is the kinda week I have had.  Not a bad week just a challenging week.  A wise lady once told me that God gave me 3 boys because He knew I could handle them.  I am greatful for ladies who see me being "the enforser" with my kids or hear the stories and encourage me to keep it up.  They remind me that even though it is hard sometimes ( or alot of the time) that is a big part of why my kids are usually well behaved and polite in public.  It's hard for me to believe sometimes but what I try to teach them does sink in.
I am going to have to get a bit more organized and get my slow cooker out for Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.  Those are soccer nights from 5:30-6:30 and with Brian gone for 3 weeks and only home one week this shift that leaves me with a totaly messed up supper and bedtime routine.  It threw us for a loop the first week but next week I will try to have it under control.
I can't get over hom much little boys can eat.  My kids can snack all day long and then eat a huge supper and want a bedtime snack before bed.  I feel like I am constantly feeding them and all I hear is, "come on mom, I'm starvin marvin can I have something to eat.  The funniest thing is after supper they all pull up their shirts and compare their bellies and argue about whose is bigger.
The other day we were looking at the tan the boys have on their arms from being in Mexico and Atley discovered again the hair all over his arms.  He got a goofy grin on his face and said, " I know why I have hair on my arms."  when I asked him why he said it was because he ate mustard!  I love that boy. lol

So lets get this blog going again.  Things just never seem to slow down.  Just when I think I've got it under control and might have a few minutes to myself something else comes up.  Right now I am working on a digitalscrap book for my grandparents.  It has pictures through the generations from my grandmas grandma to my grandmas great grand children.  I am enjoying it but it takes alot of time and it has to be done soon so it can get printed up for their party beginning of July.
So lets see here, what has been happening in my life in the last few months?  Atley had surgery on both of his eyes to even out the muscles so he can focus.  The surgury went well he will have a check up in June to see if the surgury fully corrected his vision.  A couple of weeks after his surgury I took the boys for a bike ride and Anthany and Atley were up ahead going back and forth through a puddle.  Pretty normal bike ride till they both went through the puddle at the same time going opposite directions.  Not so bad yet right?  Well they were both looking at the puddle and how big of a splash it made when they went through it instead of watching where they were going.  They hit almost head on and Atley hit his face somewhere on Anthanys bike.  He got up right away screaming and stagered into the middle of the road then back towards the side walk.  At first I thought it was just a normal wipe out, but then I saw the blood dripping from his face.  Not just a bloody nose either, I could lift the edge of his nose right off of his face.   Poor kid, after I got te bleeding stopped and cleaned him up a bit he rode his bike all the way home before we went to the hospital to get 4 stiches.
So that was 2, the surgury and the stitches, then comes number 3.  We were trying on sandles and flip flops so we knew what fit to go to Mexico and Atley put his flip flops on the wrong feet and came running into the living room and tripped and fell.  Smacked his head on the corner of the coffee table.  No stitches or blood, just a big goose egg.  But that is 3 and if things come in threes then he is done for awhile.
I think that is enough for my first blog back.  Future blogs will include travelling with the boys, babysitting again and my boy comming home with the "F" bomb.  Good to be back.
